Have you given yourself a pat on the back today? It’s been more than two months since Isagenix® launched its third annual IsaBody Challenge™, and if you’re rockin’ the Challenge, you’ve probably already started experiencing amazing changes in your overall health and maybe even the numbers on the scale.

Are you thinking about kicking things up a notch? If you’re ready to take it to the next level, it’s time to consider incorporating a fitness regimen into your new lifestyle.* By incorporating resistance training and cardiovascular exercise, or even just a basic brisk walk with your Isagenix system, you can burn more calories and increase your lean muscle mass. Just think — you could reach your health and wellness goals faster and look even better in your favorite jeans!

So what do you need to know when it comes to getting fit? Some of our top trainers and fitness specialists weighed in and shared their tips for getting started, working out at home and making exercise fun:

  • Getting started
  • If you’ve never worked out before, don’t jump into something too aggressively. If it’s way too much, you may feel overwhelmed and quit.
  • Start with light walking. Park your car further away and walk.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Choose activities that you enjoy — biking, swimming, dancing, a Pilates class, etc.
  • Recruit a friend or join a fitness group to get support and extra motivation.
  • On Cleanse Days
  • Take a walk or sit on a stationary bike and relax. You can still have some activity on Cleanse Days, just keep it nice and calm.
  • Never do an intense workout. Keep it mellow and try a light jog, a light yoga session or a brisk walk instead of a taxing workout.
  • You hit a plateau
  • Mix things up! Your body will adjust to what you’re doing. Change the intensity or duration of your workout. If you can outsmart the body then you can break the plateau.
  • Keep a journal. If you’re not getting the results you want, go back and re-evaluate what you’ve been doing.
  • No gym?
  • Get a workout video or access exercise tips and videos online from places like “Personal training on the net” (PTonthenet.com). For $9 a month, you can get a membership and access exercises, tips and videos.
  • Purchase inexpensive pieces of workout equipment like a stability ball, a set of weights, a barbell and some bands and cables. With those few things, you can do a host of exercises at home.
  • You’re in the mix of it
  • Do your weight training before your cardio. Your body will burn more fat in general because you’ll first use up your sugar storage during your weights session and then when you start your cardio, your body will tap into your excess fat for fuel.
  • Mix up your exercise routine. Incorporate cardio, weights, stretching and core strength —now that’s total fitness!
