Business owner by day and aspiring actor by night, Roger relied on soda and late-night eating to get through his hectic workweeks. Add poor sleep habits and financial stress to the equation and Roger had set up a recipe for disaster.
He admits he had horrible eating habits, but to his credit, Roger tried to eat healthy and even started a daily workout routine. Unfortunately, all his good habits and intentions came to a screeching halt after his mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. Roger turned his attention to her and what time she had left.
Over the next four years, Roger’s world went from bad to worse—he lost both his parents and both his grandmothers. For Roger, those traumatic losses and the debilitating changes it took on his family sent him straight for comfort food.
Standing 5’11”, the small-framed Roger ballooned to a 35-inch waistline. While Roger knew he was not obese, he knew he needed to lose between 30 and 40 pounds.
“I was the quintessential skinny fat kid,” he proclaims.
Roger turned to his older brother Patrick and friend Mike, a past IsaBody finalist, for guidance and a goal. (Patrick faced the same struggles, but overcame it by placing in the 2010 Challenge.) Roger was determined to lose 30 pounds and take his body mass index from 22 percent to a lean 11 percent. He ordered the 30-Day Cleansing and Fat Burning System and decided to also enter the IsaBody Challenge®. Joining the Challenge seven weeks late forced Roger to work and train even harder to accomplish his goals. He was high-spirited and hit the ground running, literally.
Starting with the 30-Day Cleansing and Fat Burning System and then transitioning to the Athlete’s Pak, Roger lost 31 pounds*, 11.1 percent body fat and went on to win third-place in the Men’s 36-49 Category of the Challenge.
He now maintains his weight by using the Total Health & Longevity System™ with Product B™ and starts each day with a Natural Creamy Chocolate IsaLean® Shake. His exercises have gone from walk/run spurts to extreme fitness routines at home along with many 26.2-mile marathons. He says he’s never looked fitter or felt better in all his 49 years.
“The more you follow the Isagenix® systems, the more successful you will be,” he says.
His next milestone is turning 50 years old and competing in his first Ironman triathlon at Lake Placid. He and his wife, Egle, hope to start a family and Roger is planning to write a book. Not bad for a man who used to live life day-to-day barely getting by.
